Ingredients
- 250g Dried Red Lentils
- 1 Chopped OnionPeeled & Chopped
- 1/2 tsp Tumeric
- 2.5 cm Root GingerPeeled & Grated
- 200g Canned Tomatoes
- 600 ml Vegetable Stock
- 1 tsp Cumin Seedslightly Crushed
- For Garnish Coriander
Tarka
- Low Calorie Cooking Spray
- 1/2 Peeled & Thinly Sliced Red Onion
- 2 tsp Black Mustard Seeds
- 1 Thinly Sliced Garlic Cloves
- Deseeded & Chopped Tomato
Rice
- 100g Rice

Tarka Dal, add this to you easy go to list. Aromatic and satisfyingly tasty, cook while you are out in the slow cooker. A great dish for the vegetarians and vegans and yes for those slimming world members fake-away all the way,low fat diets. So if you are wondering what on earth you can cook for you relation who is coming round for dinner this is a super way to impress and fill the up!!
Don’t worry if you haven’t got a slow cooker you can make this on the stove just add a little more fluid and simmer for approximately 40 mins stirring occasionally. There are many Slimming World recipes which can be cooked either way, but I would advice purchasing a slow cooker, they are inexpensive and can save you so much time. Steps
1 Done | Wash your lentils in cold running water through a sieve works very well, then pop them into the slow-cooker add all the ingrediants for the Dal. |
2 Done | Leave them in the slow cooker on high for 4 hours. |
3 Done | About fifteen mins before your Dal is ready pop on your rice to boil. |
4 Done | When your Dal id ready prepare your Tarka and serve alongside your boiled rice. Enjoy |
