Directions
This take on the traditional American dessert ‘Brown Betty’ known for its fruit and sweetened crumbs. Similar to a cobbler or apple crisp, the fruit is baked, and, in this case, the sweetened crumbs are placed in layers between the fruit.
The Apple Betty is a healthier dessert than its traditional sister but still as warming & hearty. With scrumptious apples, deliciously plump sultanas, warming cinnamon and sweet vanilla all brought together in this one dish. Enjoy hot or cold, a winner with all of the family.
Steps
1 Done | Pre-heat your oven at 190 Celsius. Set out your apple slices in a 20cm dish, and spread out the some of the sultanas on top of the apples. |
2 Done | Crack and beat the eggs in a bowl, adding the sweetener and vanilla extract as you go. When you have done that you can add in the yogurt and give another little whisk. |
3 Done | Pour the egg mixture over the apples and sultanas, and let the stand for a few minutes to settle into the fruit. Scatter over the rest of the sultanas. Add a little sprinkling of cinnamon. |
4 Done | Place in the middle of the oven for approximately 30 minutes. |
5 Done | Allow to cool, before adding fat free Greek yogurt. Sit back and enjoy! |
